This site is an online profile of me! As such it offers little in the way of coherent theme or message. But, a few words here that try to suggest some of the interests and questions that inform my work and research.
I’m curious about how we negotiate the anxieties and opportunities of communication in new media. This very site is a space filled with both anxiety and opportunity. What could I put on here that would actually add value? How is making my professional self public truly a beneficial activity? What will I gain? Lose? Who could I meet? What will I learn?
We have unprecedented tools and opportunity to be both producers and consumers of information. We can tell any story we want to the world, but have limited ability to judge which stories we should tell. We are drowning in content but have minimal skills in the ability to filter and curate what is available to us.
As a teacher, can I help my students negotiate these challenges and facilitate relevant cultural and social literacies? As a communications professional, can I ensure I have the skills and creativity to produce content that is effective for my clients? As a researcher, can I draw together my experiences to contribute meaningfully to discussion around these challenges and anxieties of communicating in a digital world?
